Hi beautiful people! How was your Holiday? Mine was bitter sweet. A couple days after Christmas we found out my beautiful sister-in-law was diagnosed with Leukemia! She is 28 years old, newly wed, and she has the most amazing little boy! LIFE!!!

It truly made me put a lot into perspective. Life is so unpredictable. We are truly here on assignment! And we need to wholeheartedly fulfill our purpose.

So I am not sure about you, but I had this ‘master plan’ to stay oh so focused and on my A game with where my health and wellness were concerned over The Holidays! I did pretty ok, but let’s just say I fell off just a tad bit! Hey, my Trinidadian roots had a lot to do with it! And the fact that my hubby is an amazing chef does not help either. LOL!

BUT, it’s time to get back on track! I made up my mind that this year and for all the years to come I am going to strive to commit to becoming the best me I could possibly be! It’s going to require sacrifice, smart work, discipline, dedication, and keeping that portal intact with God, but it is attainable lovely ones!

So this post is designed to simply give you a few ideas on how you can either get back on track, or jump onboard to live a wholesome life for 2018 & beyond!


Let’s jump in!


  1. Make your time with God a priority.

Have a set time to spend quality time with your maker. We have 24 hours in our day, and I know that schedules can get crazy, but it’s so vital to get into God’s presence. You receive nothing less than peace, direction, strength, and love. I also incorporate reading a scripture a day (the bible app has one that they share every morning). Another great option is getting access to a devotional. You can download them, or purchase them at bookstores as well. I love them! I promise you when I start my day with these acts, it gives me a refreshing experience all throughout the day. And if challenges arise, I am equipped to get through them:)


2. Be intentional!

This year we are no longer saying the ‘I always wanted to do this’, or  ‘I wish I did or had that’! We are changing that verbiage and purposely doing all those things we’ve been desiring to do! If you want to commit to working out, set a time, invite a friend, and make it happen. You can sign up for a gym membership, or get some workout tools to motivate you as well.

If you plan on eating healthy, buy the foods that will assist you with that goal. Get rid of the ‘not so good foods’, start cooking, and literally map out what it will entail for you to make healthier choices.

What about some traveling? If it’s on your agenda, start saving, map out your dates, and buy your plane ticket. My friend even goes as far as to book her hotel!

Let’s be intentional beautiful people! You know all those ‘things you’ve always wanted to do?’ I dare you to do them!

Devise a plan, strategize, and conquer!


3. Commit to Fit!

Yes my loves! No more ‘I’ll start next month, or let me just splurge today and then ‘I will start next week!’ The time is NOW! Your health is wealth. You cannot effectively do anything if you are not in a happy and healthy state. It’s ok to do something for you! I came across this saying that truly inspired me. It said think of your workouts as extremely important business meetings that you cannot miss! Working out relieves stress, rids the body of many diseases, gets rid of anxiety, and so much more!  A healthy and happy you is the best version of you!

Get a gym membership (and actually go lol), go to the park, or do whatever you think will work best for you. Be sure to take care of those beautiful bodies! Challenge yourself to go the extra mile. And please make sure that working out is on your agenda sooner than later this year!


4. Eat cleaner!


Alrighty so I know that there’s the lovely percentage rule! I actually think it’s a great way to track your progress/ stay on track! But this year let’s increase the healthy percentage. For example, if you normally do 80% good, and 20% ‘not so good’, challenge yourself to do 90% good, and 10% not so good.

Look up healthy recipes, follow heath gurus, connect with like minded eaters, and just stay motivated!

Get rid of the diets, and just work on making it a lifestyle. Minimize on those splurge days, keep healthier food options in your home, and cook. Sometimes eating out often contributes to us making poorer food choices. So get those pots bubbling, and put some wholesome goodness in your body. And if you do eat out, choose the healthier option. Most restaurants have organic, gluten free, or vegan options. So no excuses, you can do it!

5. Renew your mind and guard your heart!


Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.


Our minds are so powerful! And our hearts can be sometimes classified as fragile. Beautiful people what you think you become. Let’s trade in our toxic and unhealthy thoughts for the ones stated in Philippians 4:8. I know it is not always easy to stay positive, but it is a necessary part for us to flourish and live our dreams. Do not allow people, or even yourself to get in your way this year. Saturate your thoughts with peace, love, and joy. You are designed for greatness and destined to win! Do not allow yourself to believe otherwise.

Proverbs 23:7 says:

As a mind thinks in his heart, so is he.

Proverbs 4:23

Above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.

Your heart, your oh so precious heart, please be mindful with how you allow people to treat it. Examine your circles and the people you entertain. Is it encouraging, motivating, positive, are your friendships healthy? Do not allow others to tear your down, break you, or contribute to stressing you out. You cannot accomplish and live the life you have always wanted to live if you have others constantly stepping on your wings. You were created to not just fly, but to soar! So this year release anyone or anything that contributes to stifling your growth, or hurting your heart.
